The hotel has been owned by Kevin and Rhona Wixon for the past six years and in that time the hotel has seen a remarkable transformation. Quite literally, not one single room remains the same. The hotel has been renovated to the very highest standards by the couple. Rhona brings to the hotel her extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry, with many years experience working for people such as The National Trust for Scotland she has been able to transform The Kings Arms Hotel into a very special place. This has not gone unnoticed and she was one of the 2005 Dram Bar Personality of the Year finalists a fitting reward for so much hard work.

There is a 9-hole golf course in Dalbeattie and others within a short driving distance. Green Bowling Club, everyone welcome. Fantastic coastal walks from Kippford to Rockcliffe and all around the coastal are which is well signposted.

For the keen gardener the National Trust for Scotland has a beautiful estate with a garden centre and restaurant.
